Glass Slipper Gourmet is honored to receive another “Bride’s Choice” award from WeddingWire.com, a hugely popular wedding planning and resource site on the web.
This is the 3rd year in a row that the award has been graciously given to GSG, and I want to take a moment to sincerely thank all the voters and clients who have shared about their “cake experience” with the WeddingWire.com viewers.
I rely heavily on word-of-mouth advertising, and value it, along with the personal words and feelings from customer’s I’ve had the joy to work with, as the most effective and important aspect of business promotion. Be sure to visit Wedding Wire to see some of my collegues’ awards and find any info you might need on planning your event!
So, again, thank you and I look forward to another year of great collaboration in making wedding dreams come true!

Sulakshana & Niko’s cake featured on WeddingNouveau.com !
I was super excited to receive emails from Fri Bailey, editor & creative director of WeddingNouveau.com , and photojournalist Wendy Richardson letting me know that one of my cakes was part of a feature on a “Real Fusion Weddings” post on the site.
WeddingNouveau.com is a fantastic site for inspiration, not only for intercultural couples ~ but for all looking for unique and cutting edge ideas in putting together an event.
Wendy’s photographs beautifully captured this visually stunning event. The work of event planner and designer, Michelle Barrionuevo-Mazzini of MB Wedding Designs, a friend and collegue with extraordinary talent!, is also a huge part of the post.
Check it out! (link below)

Got a nice thank you card today…
In today’s mail I received a lovely personal thank you card from July 25, 09 clients Rosalie and Colin. I had not heard from them since the wedding, and was wondering how it all went and if they liked their cake, so I was really happy to get this:

Brayden’s First Birthday – 8|15|09
Brayden’s mom Rhona contacted me a few months back when planning her son’s first birthday cake. She wanted something super spectacular with a jungle theme. How fun!
Well, August rolled around and let’s just say… Brayden went on Safari at the local city park!!
Fondant iced tiers in vibrant green and blue, with handcut animals and folliage. The tiers were only 8″ and 6″, but the 8″ was a double barrel (to accomodate the height of the elepant!) so it was really quite BIG for such a small cake!! lol!

Priscilla and Joel || 8.8.2009
Priscilla and Joel wanted something bold and unusual for their wedding cake and something with an Indian motif. We tossed around some ideas of a lavendar cake with henna and or paisely designs. Eventually, once the invitations were picked, the cake design gelled. BOLD purple icing (like the main color of the invitation) with gold floral scrolling and a medallion (like the invite’s borders and cover). It’s not often that people want such a color scheme, and I was excited to go for it!
When I received the invitation, I was SUPER excited … beautiful! Rich, deep, metallic, irridescent dark plum with intricate patterns and bright gold scrolling ~ lovely!
The cake has fondant icing with multiple layers of airbrush to create an irredescent plum finish. The pattern, though not exact to the invitation but similar, was first stencilled and then handpainted with gold and outlined with black for definition.
Since the cake itself was such a strong statement, a simple application of flowers was all that was needed…fresh white orchids. I thought that since the cake had a modern feel already, (more…)
