Elisa and John’s Orinda Country Club wedding
“Elisa” – in chocolate, champagne and persimmon red, originally uploaded by Glass Slipper Gourmet.
Elisa, the bride, is a graphic artist and created her own designs for the invitations and other wedding stationary, so it was a natural choice to use the same for the cake design. An ornate two-toned scrolling incorporates the elegant monogram also used throughout the design scheme. Red “ribbon” roses of white chocolate and a VERY personal (custom made) topper of the bride and groom complete the cake.

My favorite "drama' camera angle!

then Elisa worked her "graphic artist" magic and turned the virtual cake into a fantastic representation of her vision! The final design - in the real world!
And some lovely details from the reception…

loved the sweeping display of petals and straight lines of candles... the sign in book has little ribbon roses like the cake does.
Best of the Bay competition!
Glass Slipper Gourmet is competing in the SFGate.com “Best of the Bay” competion – in the wedding cakes division! How fun is that?!?
SFGate.com is an online business guide that launched Aug. 4, 1008. The site allows consumers from all over to browse the businesses operating thoughout the Bay, with a “Best of Rating” and customer reviews. The catagories range from wedding services to dog walking to auto repair. Business customers control the rating, giving 1-5 stars for service. Listing is free for those of you who would like to post your own business – and there is a “voter request” form to advertise your listing.
I’m currently tied at 4th place and I WANT GOLD!!!
Your vote is greatly appreciated and if you’d like to make a review/comment, that would also be great.
Thanks so much, as always!

“Joyful Dots” – in pinks and brown
“Joyful Dots” – in pinks and brown, originally uploaded by Glass Slipper Gourmet.
Claudia’s wedding dress had the very same dots (but in white) so she HAD to have this cake!!
The pearl airbrushed white fondant icing is “dotted” with cotton candy pinks and chocolate brown. Accent dots with crystal sugar coating add a little sparkle and pizzazz!
The edible monogram topper (also sugar coated) and coordinating cupcakes finish of the modern/cute look.
More cake shots:
It was a pink and brown weekend for me… two weddings, same colors – different approaches though. Each was lovely in their own way. This one, for Claudia and Jose, was playful and joyous. The inspiration colors were called “Candy Tuft” and “Sugar Sweet” for the two pinks and they fit perfectly. They made me think of cotton candy and little girls and ballerinas. Very endearing.
The reception decor was equally adorable. Simple, yet perfectly planned elements made it absolutely darling.
Some details that caught my eye…
Maria and Edwardo – Pink, Brown and Sparkle!

Maria and Edwardo were married on 8-08-2008 (how lucky!) in Napa, Ca. The reception was held in the cave/reception room of the Meritage Hotel and Vineyard.
Maria and Edwardo’s reception had a pink and brown – and sparkle themed wedding. Their cake, inspired by my 1940’s Vogue cake
Their version has square fondant iced tiers with leaf motif scrolling and medallions applique. The applique has been enhanced with crystal sugar to add sparkle and shimmer. A buttercream piped leaf border finishes the theme.
More detailed shots and angles of the cake:
The room was decorated by Nilka Klasen of NEvents in San Francisco, and florals done by Atalanta, of Flowers by Atalanta. I loved the colors, the elegant arrangements and simple yet fresh table decor. Nilka’s assistant Nicole was onsite to help with the final details and cake placement. Here are some of the elements that caught my attention.
Wedding Paper Divas – beautiful invitations!
I found this site Wedding Paper Divas on a great wedding inspiration blog Life.Love.Lipstick that I subscribe to…. Both sites are well worth a peek!!
Love these invites…. I’m always suggesting that people use their invitation as a “jumping off point” for their cake (and other wedding decor) design. So… I love to see the possibilities of what might come my way!
Some of my particular favorites from this company:
“Tie the Knot” – Melissa and Tommy
“Tie the Knot” – in greens and pink with striped flowers, originally uploaded by Glass Slipper Gourmet.
Melissa and Tommy wanted a unique cake – something special.. with stripes (but not too stripey), and greens (but not too green!). After much thought, the final design came to life. The “Tie the Knot” theme was carried out in many aspects of the wedding decor – including the invitations, which were the main inspiration for the cake.
Fondant icing with fondant stripes in multi-greens and pink, ribbed fondant ribbon and knot, gumpaste striped roses and leaves.
The “Tie the Knot” theme and multi-shades of greens with pink accent was carried through out the room – and came together beautifully. It was a feminine and elegant decor – very fresh and inviting.
Clients: Melissa and Tommy, Married Sat. August 2, 2008 – Green Valley Country Club
Flavor: “Pink Champagne” – White cake infused with grenadine and champagne with champagne custard, strawberry preserves and white chocolate truffle. Fondant icing.
UPDATE: In August 2009, this cake was published in the Fall/Summer 2009 issue of Today’s Bride San Francisco! I’m honored and excited… a mini-milestone for my little cake career! =)
Decorated back up cakes ~ great idea!!
Main cake and kitchen cakes ready to go!!!, originally uploaded by cakespace – Beth.
Beth of Cakespace on Flickr posted this picture of a GREAT idea to simply decorate the sheet cake for display. Normally the sheet cake is unseen by the guests, but this makes it a part of the decoration. Good thinking!
